To find and edit your color palette, open the editor in Squarespace and click on Site Styles. On the right, you’ll see the Colors tab—click into it. Continues under the image.
Inside that tab, you’ll see all of your colors. At the top, you’ll find your palette, and below it, the section color themes. I’ll go through this in more detail further down in the blog post.
Once inside the palette, you can edit any colors you need. You have five colors you can add to your palette. These can be added manually, or you can choose from presets, select colors from an image, or find a matching color palette based on your main color. Once you update your palette, you’re finished.

Earlier, I mentioned the section color themes. These are the themes that control all the coloring on Squarespace—and inside here, you can change the colors for everything natively within Squarespace. On the page, you’ll see a lot of color themes, and in the editor, you can choose which color theme each section uses.
As you can see, for my hero section, Bright 2 is used, and for the footer, Lightest 1 is used.

Once I clicked into Brightest 2, you’ll see that I get lots and lots of options—first for editing things like the color of the navigation links, site title, text, and much more. As you scroll down, you’ll find even more options.
Inside here is where you can essentially change the color of any element on Squarespace. If you’re unsure whether the element you want is listed, I recommend doing a quick search by pressing Command + F on Mac or Ctrl + F on Windows. This way, you can quickly find what you’re looking for, and you’ll see the color changes happen in real time.
